Heartbreak for Pakistan After T20 World Cup Loss to India

Rawalpindi: Pakistan fans are once again disheartening on Monday as a loss against rival team India makes their T20 World Cup even worse.

For example, a spectator, speaking to his friends on the cricket ground in Rawalpindi summed up the mood in Pakistan’s cricket fraternity by saying, “Cricket is finished for Pakistan.” Despite a large following and the anticipation and enthusiasm leading up to the last part of the match, many fans did not wait for the last moment before turning off the large screen.

On Sunday, thousands of fans packed Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, in their living rooms and watched a match for Babar Azam’s team that was staged in New York. However, a low-scoring cricket encounter meant that India emerged victorious against Pakistan by six runs in a low scoring encounter both the teams failed to make lots of runs because the wicket was a very poor batting pitch. The poles were pulled down by the angry supporters who swore at the candidates on the screens by throwing plastic bottles at the screens in the early hours of Monday.

“Such is the way of the world,” Ullah opined as the crowd, all walks of life, disappointed and disillusioned, trickled out of the stadium. As it was said earlier, when it comes to romance, our heart is a bit sore at the moment, at least for many of us.

This loss came quickly after a similar loss by Pakistan to USA on Thursday on their co-host debut series in Texas where they came from the 2022 T20 world cup and 2009 champions.

The cricket rivalry between the two countries is as great as can be between two sporting sides of two country. Soccer is the second most popular sport in both countries But cricket is the official sport of both nations and they to combination have over 1. 6 billion people. By far the championship attracts a viewership of staggering proportions although the teams rarely face each other due to political post-imperialistic cold-war bitterness and only meet in bigger tournaments which are hosted in third countries.

Sunday’s match came the 13th T20 encounter between both cricket playing nuclear powers with India taking hegemony to the series with ten wins. The two teams share an unprecedented bitter relationship, to the extent that during the rain interrupted coin toss before the start of play at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Indian national anthem was played in a low tone.

Floodlights were on and the two sides walked out on the field with full Pakistan colors in the stands named some of the legends like Imran Khan and Shoaib Akhtar. Crow noises of clapping, whistling and singing could be heard in the first overs; however, the silence prevailed after the frog-leap hours of midnight when Pakistan fell into despair to chase 119 runs.

Mentioned the team weakness about which, at a restaurant close to the ground, seeking refuge from reporters’ eager questions, Hisham Raja stated only one word: “batting”. “The too much thinking may be,” the 24-year-old added. The use of ‘It’s not an embarrassment because we’re used to it now.’ It does not sound like an excuse because the current situation has become something with which societies have become accustomed.

Then turning to the life aspect he goes on to say, “Cricket is an escape for us – from our daily routine, our daily lives, and our problems.” However, there is this issue when there are more problems in this.

He said that there would be some major reshuffling in the team and he saw Babar Azam making way for someone else. Raja in particular added, ‘Walaupun di sana, I think once they come back, they’ll see how dissatisfied the population is.

Choking in the final stage of their world cup 2024 match against India, the Dawn newspaper summed up the depressing state of Pakistan cricket, stating that Pakistan ‘slept’ through the final phase of the game and they somehow managed to lose a match they dominated for large parts of the cricket.” Evidently, the moment of false satisfaction with the hopes of the next is perhaps what the Pakistanis are valuing for the first time.

The other exciting matches will be Pakistan against Canada in New York on Thursday and Pakistan against Ireland in Florida on Sunday. They may still reach in the tournament’s Super Eight stage being staged in the USA and West Indies with the final up for presentation in Barbados on June 29.

But we had 32 year old Abdul Rasheed standing firmly with the few fans remaining in the stadium say, a comeback is going to be very difficult.

Still, 17-year-old Adan Mustafa said he used to have a good experience with things before things turned worse and he dreaded to know what was happening. It may also keep you from noticing that the future appears rather bleak.
