The smartphones of the Galaxy S24 series are set to employ the integrated Gemini Nano, Google’s highly efficient large-language model. They will also gain entry to Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 text-to-image technology via cloud connectivity.
Samsung is set to incorporate Google’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology into its upcoming Galaxy smartphone series.
Unveiling the S24 series, the South Korean company highlighted a range of innovative features driven by AI during a presentation in San Jose, California, on Wednesday.
TM Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile experience division, expressed the company’s vision, stating, “We will reshape the technology landscape, we will open a new chapter without barriers to unleash your potential.”
The smartphones will leverage the built-in Gemini Nano, Google’s most efficient large-language model, and gain access to Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 text-to-image technology via cloud integration.
Among the AI capabilities, a live translation feature during phone calls in 13 languages and 17 dialects is noteworthy. Additionally, customers can utilize AI-driven summarization and classification functions within Samsung’s proprietary applications like Notes, Voice Recorder, and the keyboard.
The Imagen model is designed to facilitate intricate photo editing tasks within the Gallery app, offering users a tool for refining their photos, albeit with the potential for creating misleading images.
A notable addition is Google’s “Circle To Search” feature, enabling users to circle text snippets, portions of photos, or videos for instant search results related to the highlighted content.
The new Galaxy phones are expected to hit the market around the end of January.
